- That legion team finished third in the Southeast Regionals and won the state tournament in 2004 when he was named the player of the game
- Had a 9-1 record with a 2.7 ERA in 2004 and a career Legion record of 21-3
- Started master's of accounting program
- Served a volunteer two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Mendoza, Argentina
- Married Brittnye Holden in June 2011

- Was named First-Team all-state in 2006 by two organizations at Paul M. Dorman High
- Team won the AAAA Upper State Championship in 2006
- Played in the North/South All-Star games
- Was all-region and all-area
- Was two-time all-area academic

- Was a four-year letterman and won the 2006 team pitching award
- Was a National Merit Scholar, a Robert C. Byrd Scholar, won the Wendy's High School Heisman Award and graduated third in a class of 600
