WACO, Texas — BYU softball fell in game one of a three-games series at Baylor, 2-0 at Getterman Stadium on Thursday night.
The Cougars (29-13, 11-8 Big 12) had runners on base in just two of the seven innings and were out-hit, six to two, also recording a pair of errors.
Player Highlights
- Aleia Agbayani: 1-2
- Keila Kamoku: 1-3
- Kate Dahle (L, 8-5): 4 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K
Baylor put runners on the corners in the bottom of the first but BYU sniffed out a double steal attempt to get out of the jam.
Aleia Agbayani picked up a single to left center in the second but that would be the Cougars’ only base hit through the first three frames.
The Bears plated a pair in the bottom of the fourth inning, stringing together three singles and a walk while also benefitting from two BYU errors to break the scoreless tie and take a 2-0 lead.
Keila Kamoku led off the fifth with an infield single, just the Cougars’ second of the game, but a fly out, fielder’s choice and ground out halted any potential attack.
Retired in order in both the sixth and seventh innings, BYU ultimately dropped game one, 2-0, the fifth time it has been shut out on the year.
