PROVO, Utah — No. 7 seed BYU (17-9, 7-6 Big 12) enters the Big 12 Championship with a first-round bye and will play either Kansas State or West Virginia on Thursday, Apr. 17.

The Mountaineers are 8-16 this season and 2-11 in the conference. They most recently won 4-2 against Cincinnati.

The Cougars faced the Mountaineers this season on Mar. 22 and won 4-0. BYU secured the doubles point after two-straight doubles wins, and Huang, Levelston and Tan won in singles to clinch the match.

Kansas State is currently ranked No. 53 and is 9-11 overall, with a 6-7 record in the conference. The team lost 4-0 to No. 39 Kansas.

The Wildcats closely defeated the Cougars on Apr. 3 with a 4-3 victory. Despite taking the doubles point and two singles matches, BYU ultimately lost the match.

The Cougars ended their regular season with a 4-2 win over Houston on Apr. 12. Bobo Huang leads the team in singles with an 18-3 record, and doubles team Grace Levelston/Elizabeth Tullis hold a 14-3 record.
