BYU qualifies four divers for NCAA Zone Championships

Four BYU divers will represent the Cougars at NCAA Zone E Diving Championships in Federal Way, Washington March 10-12.

PROVO, Utah — Four BYU divers will represent the Cougars at NCAA Zone E Diving Championships in Federal Way, Washington March 10-12.

BYU men’s diving has qualified two entries with Chase Hindmarsh and Martí Llop while the women will compete Alexia Jackson Hansen and Brooklyn Larson Clouse.

Hindmarsh returns to his fifth NCAA Zone meet after earning his sixth and seventh career all-conference honors at Big 12 Championships Feb. 25-March 1. The fifth-year senior from Tomball, Texas has notched personal bests in two of three events this season. Hindmarsh recorded a 1-meter best of 346.65 as he led the Cougars to a first-place team finish at the Utah Dive Invite Jan. 10-11 in Salt Lake City.

It was on 3-meter and platform, however, where Hindmarsh excelled in the Big 12 title events. Hindmarsh notched a personal-best 366.15 to finish fourth on 3-meter and earn All-Big 12 First Team. After a 330.60 and fourth-place finish in the platform preliminary, Hindmarsh secured second team all-conference with a 310.35 for eighth in the final.

Llop took eighth in the Big 12 3-meter final with a score of 280.60. In the 3-meter prelim, Llop recorded a personal-best 337.735. With his eighth-place finish on 3-meter, the freshman from Barcelona, Spain became BYU’s first freshman men’s diver to win an all-conference designation since 2022 .

Llop’s season also consists of top scores of 324.40 on 1-meter in a tri-meet at Texas A&M in October and a platform-best of 302.60 at November’s SMU Invite.

Jackson Hansen collected her sixth and seventh career all-conference honors at Big 12 Championships with a fourth-place finish for first team on platform and sixth-place for second team on 3-meter. The junior from Mesa, Arizona has now qualified for her third NCAA Zone meet in three years.

Larson Clouse, a senior from Chandler, Arizona, has now also reached zones in each of her four seasons. Larson Clouse’s top performance at Big 12 Championships came in a 15th-place platform finish with 203 points. The senior set a 3-meter personal best with a score of 295.88 at Texas A&M in October.
