Gibb's 19.5 points and 4.5 assists per game led all Big 12 freshmen on the week. The Raymond, Alberta native was also the highest-rebounding guard and third overall for conference freshmen at 5.0 rebounds per game. The freshman also ranked third in steals per game for first-year players.
Against Iowa State, Gibb led the Cougars in scoring with 18 points on 6-of-13 shooting and knocking down 3-of-6 offerings from behind the arc. She also turned in a team-highs in assists and steals with four and two, respectively.
In Gibb's first experience in the BYU-Utah rivalry game, the freshman was the leading scorer for the Cougars with 21 points, going 3-for-6 from downtown. After a quiet first half in which Gibb mostly facilitated for her teammates, the freshman turned it on with 19 second-half points, including back-to-back triples with inside a minute left to give BYU a chance to knock off the Utes. Along with her 21 points, Gibb also recorded a team-high six rebounds and five assists while also contributing two steals.
With her 17.2 points per game this season, Gibb tops the BYU freshman record book for scoring average while ranking 11th in total points (326). With six made triples, she has moved into third in 3-point percentage at 41.1 percent and fifth place in made threes with 51. The freshman also moved into fourth in assists per game with 3.84 and 10th in total assists with 73.
Gibb and the Cougars will be back in the Marriott Center on Wednesday, Jan. 29 for a 7 p.m. MT matchup with the Colorado Buffaloes. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and broadcast on BYU Radio with Jason Shepherd on the call.
