IRVING, Texas — BYU women's volleyball setter Alex Bower has been named the Big 12 Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday morning.
Bower paced the Cougars to a .252 team hitting percentage during a pair of road Big 12 wins to close out the regular season last week. She finished with 90 assists on the week, including 56 at No. 11 Kansas, averaging 14 per set in Lawrence.
The setter added a pair of kills in each match, as well as three service aces, 16 digs and four total blocks. Bower notched her 10th double-double of the year at K-State with 34 assists and 11 digs, setting BYU's rally-scoring era freshman assist record during the match in Manhattan.
This is Bower's second conference honor and the Cougars' fourth of the year. Bower was also named Rookie of the Week in October, while middle blocker Brielle Kemavor was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week in October and November.
