PROVO, Utah — BYU baseball joined the Big 12 Conference in announcing its 2025 schedule on Thursday.

We are excited about the 2025 baseball schedule,” said Trent Pratt, BYU baseball head coach. “Our guys are working hard and getting better each day. We look forward to this upcoming season where we will play in some new venues on the road and host several teams in Provo for the first time.”

The Cougars’ 53-game schedule consists of 31 road contests and 22 at home with a 30-game Big 12 schedule and 23 non-conference matchups.

After opening with 11 straight road games Feb. 14-March 1, BYU plays 11 of its next 14 games at home, including an eight-game homestand March 5-18. The Cougars move into April with an eight-game road swing April 1-12, then close the regular season with seven of their last 11 at home.

Home gametimes will be announced at a later date.

BYU opens the season Feb. 14-15 and 17 with a four-game series at Fresno State over Presidents' Day weekend. The Cougars then play a midweek game at UCLA before back-to-back road series at CSUN and Gonzaga.

“Starting the season on the road at Fresno State, UCLA and Cal State Northridge, gives Cougar fans in California a chance to see us play,” Pratt said. “We’ve had some great battles with the Zags over the years, and it will be fun to play them again."

BYU's home-opener comes on March 5 versus Stetson in the first of a four-game series with the Hatters at Miller Park.

"Stetson is a quality team that won their conference title last year," Pratt said. "Our preconference schedule will be tough but should get us prepared for conference play.”

The Cougars move into Big 12 play March 13-15 with a home series versus UCF. BYU plays each of the three Big 12 newcomers in Arizona, Arizona State and Utah, along with the two teams it didn’t draw in 2024, UCF and TCU. The Cougars face five common league opponents from 2024 with road series at Cincinnati and Kansas, while West Virginia, Kansas State and Texas Tech make return trips to Provo.

"We are also excited about our second season in the Big 12," Pratt said. "We look forward to conference road trips, as well as to hosting UCF, West Virginia, Arizona, Kansas State and Texas Tech at Miller Park."

Baylor, Houston and Oklahoma State are not featured on BYU’s 2025 slate.

The top 12 of 14 Big 12 teams qualify for the 2025 Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas May 21-24.

In 23 non-conference games, the Cougars will see opponents from eight different leagues, including the Mountain West, Big Ten, Big West, WCC, Atlantic Sun, WAC, Summit League and American Athletic Conference.

BYU’s 2025 opponents include eight 2024 NCAA Tournament teams, with Fresno State, Stetson, UCF, Oral Roberts, Arizona and Grand Canyon, along with Super Regional clubs in West Virginia and Kansas State. The Mountaineers, Kansas State and Arizona each finished the 2024 season ranked in the final D1Baseball.com Top 25.

Pratt enters his third season as BYU head coach in 2025 and guides his team into their second season in the Big 12. The Cougars are looking to take a step forward in 2025 after finishing last season with a 21-31 (7-23) record.

BYU returns 69 percent of its 2024 at bats, including veteran infielders Cooper Vest, Brock Watkins and Easton Jones, along with catcher Parker Goff. Sophomore outfielders Ryker Schow and Crew McChesney will look to build on promising finishes to their freshman campaigns. The Cougar bats will be further bolstered by transfers Ryder Robinson (TCU) and Easton Bryant (Chandler-Gilbert Community College), as well as freshmen Matt Hansen and Ridge Erickson

The pitching staff returns 2024 Big 12 saves leader Stone Cushing, starter Payton Gubler and reliever Candon Dahle. Transfers Jaden Harris (Utah), Brayden Marx (Hawaii) and Garrison Sumner (Salt Lake Community College) are among the newcomers to the Cougar pitching staff.
