PROVO, Utah — BYU men's volleyball setter Tyler Herget was named to the 2024 Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team by College Sports Communicators, the organization announced Thursday.
The 2024 Academic All-District Men’s At-Large team, selected by CSC, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom. In order to be considered, the student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average. The student-athlete must also compete in 90 percent of the institution’s games/contests/sets played or must start in at least 66 percent of the games/contests/sets. The student-athlete should also be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, with no 12-month residency required for an undergraduate transfer.
Herget, a sophomore transfer from Penn State, studies Business at BYU and earned a 3.85 GPA through one full academic year in Provo.
Herget tallied 896 assists, 149 digs, 44 blocks and 21 aces in the 2024 season for the Cougars, leading the team in digs in nine different games. He had 11 games with more than 40 assists, averaging 9.74 assists per set while guiding BYU to a .300 team hitting percentage, the highest since 2021. Herget also started in 21 of BYU's 25 matches this season.
