POCATELLO, Idaho — BYU softball picked up a 5-1 midweek win against Idaho State at Miller Ranch Stadium on Tuesday evening.
The Cougars (27-22, 8-16 Big 12) received a complete game from left-handed pitcher Chloe Temples, who went the distance for just the second time this season, the team’s third complete game in 2024.
BYU was led offensively by Hailey Morrow, Maddie Udall and Aleia Agbayani, who each tallied two hits apiece and combined for four of the five RBI in the contest.

After three scoreless innings, BYU broke through in the top of the fourth. Hailey Morrow drew a one-out walk, and her pinch runner, Lexie Bennett, moved to third on a double to right. After Keila Kamoku was intentionally walked, Aleia Agbayani bounced a single to left field off the infield dirt, scoring both Bennett and Udall for a 2-0 lead.
The Cougars added an insurance run in the fifth inning after Huntyr Ava singled up the middle. Hailey Morrow tripled down the left field line field line, scoring Lauren Flanders, who pinch ran for Ava, to make it 3-0.
Tacking on two more in the top of the seventh, Morrow doubled to right and came home to score on a Udall single through the right side. Abbey Gillespie, pinch running for Udall, stole second and scored on a Kamoku double for a 5-0 BYU advantage.
Idaho State picked up a run with a solo homer in the bottom of the seventh, but a groundout and swinging strikeout closed out the midweek win, 5-1.
