TRINITY, Texas – BYU men’s golf finished the Big 12 Championship in 10th at 23-over-par after rounds of 283-292-297-303–1175.

“These last two rounds were hard on our players and us as coaches,” BYU director of golf Todd Miller said. "We hit wayward tee shots, short-sided ourselves and made some poor decisions. Our freshmen (Cooper Jones and Peter Kim) played some great golf. It’s not too often that your freshmen lead the team in college golf, but I’m excited about the future with them playing for BYU. We will have to pick ourselves up, analyze our play and get ready for regionals.”

Texas (285-291-275-276–1127) took home the individual title at 25-under-par, 18 shots ahead of second-place Oklahoma (296-286-280-283–1145) at 7-under. Oklahoma State (295-284-284-287–1150; -2) took third and was the final team under-par.

Jones finished in 23rd at 3-over-par with rounds of 74-73-71-73–291, with Kim carding a 4-over-par total to tie for 28th (67-72-76-77–292).

Zac Jones tied for 34th (69-75-74-76–294; +6), with Max Brenchley finishing tied for 50th (73-72-79- 77–301; +13) and Keanu Akina finishing in a tie for 61st (75-76-76-80–307; +19).

The regional selection show will take place on Wednesday, May 1, at 12 p.m. MDT. If selected, BYU will tee it up at one of the six NCAA Regionals that will occur from May 13-15, with 13-14 teams being invited to each event. The top five teams from each regional event will advance to the NCAA Chanpionship at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
