SANTA CRUZ, Calif. — BYU men’s golf sits in fifth after round two at the 77th Western Intercollegiate played at Pasatiempo Golf Course on Tuesday. 

The Cougars jumped three spots with a second round of 6-over-par 356. The squad produced 15 birdies as a team, with an eagle from freshman Cooper Jones on the final hole of the day.

The Stanford Cardinal took over the top spot on the leaderboard after Arizona shot 13-over-par in the second round. Only seven shots seperate the top seven teams going into the final round on Wednesday. 

Junior Zac Jones is tied for seventh after posting a 1-over 71 on day two to sit at 1-under , just three shots behind the leader with 18 holes to play.

C. Jones is tied for 20th after a Tuesday round of 1-over-par, slotting him at 2-over for the tournament. Keanu Akina is tied for 33rd (71-73–144; +4), Max Brenchley (71-76–147; +7) and Brock Goyen (78-69–147; +7) are tied for  48th, and Peter Kim is tied for 66th (78-72–150; +10). 

The Cougars tee times begin at 10:40 am PDT on Wednesday. A replay of round three will be shown on the Golf Channel beginning at 5 pm MDT. Live scoring can be found at GolfStat.com
