PROVO, Utah — BYU track and field is set to compete at UC San Diego, Weber State and Utah this week.
The throws group will head into the Triton Invitational backed by a strong start in their first three meets of outdoor season. Gretchen Hoekstre tossed a career best mark of 55.47-meters/51-11.75 in the discus throw at the USC Trojan Invitational on March 23. Hoekstre ranks 25th nationally in the event. On the men’s side, Dallin Shurts threw 60.62m/198-11 to open the season at the Arizona Spring Break Fiesta. Shurts ranks eighth in the nation currently.
The sprints/hurdles and multis groups will remain instate to compete at both the Weber State and Utah Spring Classic meets. Annalise Hart competed in the 400m hurdles at last week's 96th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays where she ran 58.24 to earn the program's No. 7 all-time mark. Mayci Taylor also competed at Texas Relays as she scored a career-best 5240 points to land at No. 10 on BYU’s all-time list. Dallin Draper competed in the 100-meter dash at the same meet, clocking a 10.13 (4.0m/s wind) in the prelims. Draper finished seventh in the finals having crossed the finish in 10.33 (2.1 m/s).
