PALO ALTO, California – BYU men’s golf team is in seventh at The Goodwin after carding an 8-over 288 in round two at a rainy TPC Harding Park on Friday.

"Today was a really tough day with a combination of a long, hard course and bad weather,” freshman Peter Kim said. "It was raining all day and windy for most of the day. I played solid today, hitting it well off the tee and keeping myself in spots to make a lot of good pars. Overall, the team handled today pretty well for us to stay in contention for tomorrow.”

Tournament hosts Stanford, Tennessee and Georgia continued into day two with solid rounds to keep them in the top five. Utah and San Fransisco capitalized on afternoon tee times that led to improved weather as they jumped up in the leaderboard to enter the top five, being the only teams to score under par for the round.

Peter Kim and Keanu Akina both shot 1-over-par in Friday’s round, with Akina tied for 18th and Kim tied for 36th for the tournament. Zac Jones is also tied for 36th at 3-over, with Max Brenchley close behind at 4-over. Cooper Jones (120th) and Brock Goyen (164th) round out the Cougar squad.

The Cougars will endure the weather conditions again on Saturday for the final round of The Goodwin, with tee times beginning at 12 pm PDT. Scores can be found on GolfStat.com
