"It was a phenomenal day with great performances," said women's distance coach Diljeet Taylor. "Super pleased with Riley and Carmen in the mile. Sadie blew through a pack of professionals in the 3000-meter, and of course it was great to see amazing times in the 5000-meter by all my women. It sets us up really well for both the Big 12 and National Championships."

Freshman Jenna Hutchins led a trio of Cougars through the 5000m, crossing the finish line in 15:30.99 to land herself at No. 3 all-time. Lexy Halladay-Lowry crossed only four hundredths of a second later, with a time of 15:31.03 to put herself at No. 4 all-time. Aubrey Frentheway followed right behind, finishing the race in 15:31.69 to record a new personal best. Frentheway now moves to No. 5 all-time.

Riley Chamberlain led the one mile, clocking a 4:30.26 across the finish line to advance to No. 2 all-time. Carmen Alder followed seconds behind, finishing in 4:34.37 to move to No. 6 all-time.

"I’m super happy with my performance today," said Chamberlain. "There was lots of really good competition. It was fun to have Carmen right with me. This was a really good start for me and I’m excited to see what else I can do this season."

Other notable performances came from Sadie Sargent in the 3000m as well as Meghan Hunter in the 800m. Sargent surpassed a field of professionals while finishing as the first collegiate athlete with a time of 8:59.45. Hunter finished seventh overall in 2:04.45.

The Cougars will return to action in two weeks, with the distance crews headed to the Husky Classic in Seattle, Washington while the sprints position group will attend the Don Kirby Elite Invitational in Albuquerque, NM. Both competitions will begin Friday Feb. 9. Information can be found on the schedule page.
