Sprints, jumps and throws head to Clemson for Bob Pollock Invitational

PROVO, Utah - BYU track and field will travel to Clemson as men's and women's sprints, jumps and throws athletes are set to compete at the Bob Pollock Invitational on Jan. 26-27.

National Rankings

BYU's sprints, jumps and throws currently have five athletes ranked in the top-20 nationally in their respective events. 

School record-holder Cierra Tidwell Allphin currently ranks fourth in the high jump due to her 1.89-meters/6-2.5 clearance at the BYU December Invitational. A senior from Mesa, Arizona, Tidwell Allphin is a five time All-American in the high jump.

Sophomore Mayci Taylor currently ranks fifth in the country in the pentathlon after scoring 3,896 points in the event at the BYU December Invitational.

Pole vaulter Rebekah Erikson sits seventh on the national list with her 4.33m/14-2.5 mark also achieved at the BYU December Invitational. Erikson is ranked No. 2 all-time indoors at BYU. 

In the women's shot put, Gretchen Hoekstre sits at 15th with a season-best throw of 16.69m/54-9.25. Hoekstre ranks No. 2 all-time at BYU with a career-best throw of 17.10m/56-1.25.

On the men's side, Danny Bryant currently sits 17th with a season-best throws of 18.37m/60-3.25.

Next up, the distance squad will travel to Washington for the Husky Classic and the sprints, jumps and throws will head to New Mexico for the Don Kirby Elite Invitational. Both meets will be held Feb. 9-10.
