PROVO, Utah — No. 9 BYU women’s volleyball swept UC Davis (25-15, 25-13, 25-11) at the Smith Fieldhouse on Saturday night in the second of two contests for the Cougars in the dōTERRA Classic.

Crowned the Classic champions, BYU setter Whitney Bower and middle blocker Whitney McEwan-Llarenas were named to the all-tournament team, with libero Kamaile Hiapo honored as the tournament MVP.

The Cougars (6-0, 0-0 Big 12) outhit the Aggies .299 to -0.014 on the evening, the third time in BYU's first six matches that it has held opponents under .100 hitting for the match. 

Senior outside hitter Erin Livingston led all hitters with 12 kills while junior outside hitter Elyse Stowell tallied seven of her own to help lift BYU to victory. The Cougars' totaled 39 kills to UC Davis' 18 and recorded 31 digs to the Aggies' 28.

Whitney Bower poured in 28 assists, eight digs, and two service aces. Hiapo and Livingston finished with six digs each, while Mia Lee had a team-high four blocks.

Set 1
The Cougars jumped out to a 7-3 lead, following a kill at the net from Lee. BYU quickly extended its lead, scoring three straight points leading 10-3, forcing UC Davis to call a timeout. 

Following the timeout, an Erin Livingston kill would further the Cougars lead to 16-7, before they would eventually go on to win the first set 25-15. BYU outhit the Aggies .387 to .091 in the set and Livingston's five kills led the Cougars, propelling them to the set victory. 

Set 2
A service ace from Hannah Billeter gave BYU a 1-0 lead to begin the second frame. Later in the set, the Cougars would lead 6-4 following a back-and-forth point that would be awarded to BYU following a Livingston kill. 

The Cougars would continue their momentum and extend their lead to 13-8 before a timeout was called by UC Davis. Following the timeout, a kill at the net by Kate Prior would extend BYU's lead to 19-10. 

A kill from Stowell gave the Cougars a 23-11 advantage, and BYU was victorious in the second set, 25-13, following a kill from Claire Little. Seven service errors in the set for the Aggies helped lift the Cougars to the advantage. 

Set 3
BYU quickly led 4-2 in the third set following a service ace from Hiapo, before the Cougars would later extend their lead to 6-3 following another service ace by Whitney Bower. 

Later in the set, UC Davis took a 9-8 lead before three-straight kills by Stowell would give BYU an 11-9 advantage. The Cougars would continue their momentum, scoring two more points to lead 13-9, forcing the Aggies to call a timeout. 

Following the timeout, a back-and-forth point would bring the Smith Fieldhouse to its feet on a kill by Stowell at the net, giving BYU a 14-9 lead. The Cougars continued to maintain control and later extended their lead to 19-10 with a service ace from Billeter. 

Livingston's 12th kill of the night would give BYU a 24-11 lead before the Cougars would go on to win the third set 25-11, clinching the match.

The Cougars will head to Pullman, Washington next week for Washington State's Cougar Classic, beginning with a matchup against Towson on Thursday morning at 11:30 a.m. MDT.
