PROVO, Utah — BYU women’s cross country opens up its 2023 season at they host the Autumn Classic Friday at Clarence F. Robison Track & Field Complex. 

Coming off of an eighth place finish at last years NCAA Championships, the women enter the season ranked No. 7 in the USTFCCCA national preason poll.

The Cougars are led by three-time cross country All-American Aubrey Frentheway. At last year's NCAA Championships Frentheway was the first Cougar to cross the finish line placing 32nd. She also placed third at the Mountain Regional meet after winning the individual title at the WCC Championships. 

Lexy Halladay-Lowry returns to cross country after finishing fourth at the 2023 NCAA Track & Field Championships in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. She enters the season looking to claim her second All-American honor in cross country after placing 34th at last year's national championships. 

BYU also returns Anastaysia Davis, Alissa Fielding and Carmen Alder from last season's eighth place team. They welcome Carlee Hansen from the University of North Carolina and seven true freshmen. 

The women's race will start at 10 a.m. MT with the men to follow at 10:30. Admission is free.

Course Preview

Following the Autumn Classic, the Cougars will travel to the Bill Dellinger Invitational hosted by the University of Oregon on Sept. 22.
