SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The West Coast conference has named two Cougars to the 2023 WCC Men’s Tennis All-Academic Team for their performance in the classroom and on the courts. Zach Fuchs is a first team honoree, while teammate Brigham Andrus received honorable mention recognition.

Only those student-athletes with a 3.2 cumulative GPA or higher in at least their second year with their school are eligible for nomination. In addition, individuals must be a starter or important reserve and have participated in at least 50 percent of a team’s matches.

Fuchs is a sophomore from Los Altos, California, with a 3.7 GPA while studying Pre-Business. He plans to pursue a degree in either finance or global supply chain management. Fuchs had a team-high singles winning percentage in 2022-23 and holds career records of 19-15 in singles and 13-17 in doubles. The honor is his second academic recognition this season after being named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team earlier this month.

Andrus appeared in all 22 dual matches this season after three surgeries in the previous year to repair injuries to both knees. He earned a team-high nine doubles wins in his junior season while also maintaining a 3.3 cumulative GPA. A native of Alpine, Utah, Andrus is studying finance at the BYU Marriott School of Business. He has a 5-13 career singles record and 18-13 mark in doubles.
