LAHAINA, Hawaii — BYU women’s golf posted a 2-under-par final round to take sixth at the Anuenue Spring Break Classic at the Ka’anapali Golf Course on Wednesday. Allysha Mae Mateo finished tied for ninth, her sixth-straight top-11 finish.

Mateo fired rounds of 71-72-70—213 to earn a share of ninth behind four golfers ranked in the top 35 nationally. The fifth-year senior has been a consistent force for the Cougars during the spring season as she has yet to finish outside the top-11 since winning the Miami Hurricane Invitational in November and boasts a scoring average of 70.8 over her last six events.

“Allysha Mae is playing some inspired golf right now,” said BYU head coach Carrie Roberts.  “She won in Miami and has continued to play some really good golf this semester. She is a strong competitor and is driven to be her very best in everything she does. Allysha Mae has a great understanding of her abilities and how to get the most out of herself each week.”

BYU finished with rounds of 291-292-286—869 for a 5-over-par total which earned the Cougars a sixth-place finish behind three top-50 teams who secured the top-3 spots. No. 25 Pepperdine finished at 18-under to win the team championship by seven shots over No. 41 Denver who finished at 11-under.

No. 30 UCLA took third at 10-under-par with Cal Poly finishing fourth at 3-under and Tulane rounding out the top 5 after shooting 1-under for the 54-hole championship.
