LAFAYETTE, La. — Louisiana defeated BYU, 11-0, in game two of a four-game baseball series at M.L. Moore Field at Russo Park in Lafayette on Thursday night.
The Ragin’ Cajuns, who advanced to the NCAA regionals in 2022, improved to 4-1 this season, while the Cougars dropped to 2-4.
“Louisiana got some momentum early and it was hard to stop them,” said BYU head coach Trent Pratt. “We had a couple of chances in the middle innings to swing the momentum our way but couldn’t capitalize with a big hit.”

Louisiana jumped out to an early lead in the first inning on two hits and a walk for a 2-0 lead. Two successful bunt squeezes in the bottom of the fourth gave the Ragin’ Cajuns two more runs and a 4-0 advantage.
Four runs in the fifth inning increased the Louisiana lead to 8-0, and three more in the eighth pushed the final score to 11-0.
Game three of the four-game series is scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m. CST. The series is being broadcast live on the BYU Radio App and BYU Radio 107.9 FM in the northern Utah market, with Jason Shepherd on play-by-play. In addition, Louisiana will broadcast the Saturday game on ESPN+ with Dan McDonald and Brennan Breaux calling the game.
