PROVO, Utah — Following strong performances by the teams at last week’s Air Force Invite, BYU men's and women's swim and dive are set to clash with long time rival this weekend, the University of Utah.
After competing against the Utes in a pre-season relay event to begin the year, the Cougars will now look to come away victorious in a scored meet at the home of the Utes, the Ute Natatorium. A win over Utah would give the men an overall season record of 5-0 in dual meets, while the women will try to secure their third head-to-head win of the year.
"The dive team is coming off a great meet and a light world focused on quality dives," said BYU dive coach Tyce Routson. "We have been heading on the right trajectory for some great head to head completion with Utah and just the right amount of intensity!"
Last Time Out
The men's swim and dive teams came away victorious in the multi-teamed Air Force Invite last weekend, accumulating 1,155 points over the two day span. The divers dominated the competition, winning nearly every event outright, while the swimmers also delivered numerous individual and team performance wins. The women's team came away placing third in the meet, scoring 777.5 points throughout the events. The distance swimmers for the women competed well at elevation for the weekend, as well as Alexia Jackson of the dive team.
