The BYU women finished 10th nationally behind three First Team All-Americans in Claire Seymour (800m), Courtney Wayment (3000 S) and 1500m national champion Anna Camp-Bennett. While Camp-Bennett has moved on to a professional running career, Seymour and Wayment return as well as Second Team All-American high jumper Cierra Tidwell-Allphin and all four members of the All-American 4x400 squad; Alena Ellsworth, Lauren Ellsworth-Barnes, Meghan Hunter and Seymour.
Six of nine 2021 men's All-Americans return for the Cougars, including two first teamers and four second teamers. Cameron Bates (javelin throw) and Garrett Marsing (3000 S) each garnered First Team All-American honors at the 2021 national meet. Returning Second Team All-Americans include Lucas Bons (1500m), Casey Clinger (5000m), Zach McWhorter (Pole Vault) and Dallin Shurts (discus throw). The BYU men's 4x400 squad also finished the season at Second Team All-America. Landon Maxfield, Cortez Ruiz and Colten Yardley return to anchor the relay team in 2022. As a team, the Cougars finished No. 17.
BYU will face some of the top athletes in the country at USC. The Trojan men's and women's teams finished No. 5 and No.1, respectively, a season ago.
