PROVO, Utah – No. 12 BYU will compete one final time at home this season, hosting No. 11 University of Denver, on Thursday, March 11, at 7 p.m. in the Marriott Center.
As tradition, BYU’s seniors will be celebrated as they prepare to say goodbye. Head coach Guard Young is grateful for their dedication.
“We have Angel Zhong who is coming back for a fifth season after tearing her achilles,” Young said. “Abbey Miner has continued in the all-around. Avery Bennett has been a vault staple for the last three years. Abby Stainton has been solid on three events all year. Jordan Matthews was a solid backup on floor last year and she has elevated herself to a starting position. Haley Pitou has been a great starter for us on both bars and vault. And, Helody Cyrenne is someone I know I can count on for beam.”
The Cougars and Pioneers last met on February 22, 2020, in Denver, Colorado. There, BYU celebrated its first victory against Denver since 2011, ending its four-meet losing streak. Not only did the Cougars come out on top, they won by nearly an entire point, 196.200-195.175.
A limited number of spectators will be allowed into the arena. All are required to wear masks and follow social distancing protocols. Click here to purchase tickets for Thursday’s meet.
