PROVO, Utah – After upsetting No. 6 Wisconsin 24-21, BYU linebacker Sione Takitaki was named the College Sports Madness National Defensive Player of the Week.
Squally Canada was also named one of the offensive players of the week for the independent schools. Takitaki earned the independent honors on the defensive side, in addition to his national selection.
In BYU's victory, Takitaki recorded a career high of 13 total tackles and tied his career high in solo stops with eight. The senior captain also posted two tackles for loss, including his first sack of the season against the Badgers.
Canada, a senior running back, ran for 118 yards and two touchdowns on just 11 attempts. He had a season-high 46-yard rush that set up the Cougars' game-winning field goal.
