BYU men's golf team struggled in the second round of the Western Collegiate in Santa Cruz, California.
Playing on a difficult and bumpy course, BYU ended the first two rounds with the scores 283-290, leaving the team 13 over par.
"It all comes down to the putting and the mental errors," said head coach Bruce Brockbank, "We hit good shots, but we just weren't consistent."
Today's results are unusual for the BYU men's golf team this year. The team has had a strong season, posting more wins than any other school, with bad days few and far between.
"We haven't had a day like this in a long time. It will be interesting too see how we come out tomorrow. We got to kick in and have a good solid round tomorrow," said Brockbank.
Even with today's disappointing results, don't count out the Cougars. Brockbank said, "You never know what these guys will do--they're capable of great things. If we come back with a strong performance tomorrow, we should finish in the top three."
The third and final round of the Western Collegiate will be played Tuesday, April 4, 2000 in Santa Cruz.
